India Missions ‘07

Chilakaluripet, India Missions 2007

Since I took over 1200 pictures on our trip to India, I’ve separated them into albums according to subject matter. Sit back, relax, and check them all out. Although they will never capture the true experience, hopefully they will move you like they did us.

Veda School

The Veda School was one of our main stops on our trip. Dolly, the director of Veda School, was our main contact and helped to organize the entire trip. We visited the school several days, saw many presentations, and all the in’s and out’s of the school’s daily operations.

Bridging Schools

One of the services provided by Veda is that of the Bridging Schools. Many underpriveleged, lowest caste “untouchables” never get an education because of their societal status. Veda goes to the slum villages, sets up a shelter and provides education and daily midday meals. This education brings these children “up to speed” with the rest of society such that they are ready to enter Veda School at their true age level.

Milk Project

Another service of Veda is that of the daily morning Milk Project. Many infants in the slum villages go without milk each day. Veda tries to remedy that (as sponsors allow) by providing many families with milk every morning for slum village infants under 2 years old.

Medical Camps

Medical Camps were an integral part of our trip to India. Dr. Doyce Payne led the medical team which consisted of six people. Four medical camps were held at four villages seeing a total of over 1200 people. Additionally, Dr. Doyce performed several surgeries.

Festival of Hope

The Youth Festival of Hope was one of the main reasons of the trip as well. Over 700 youth and college aged students atteneded a 3 day conference to hear about Jesus and make an “informed decision” as to who Jesus really is.

Children of India

The children of India touched our hearts more than anything on the trip. The potential in these small children to impact India for Christ is greatly underestimated because of societal status. Veda is working to change that.

People of India

The people of India continued to amaze us each day at the love, graciousness, and hospitality they poured on us. Bringing the message of Jesus gave hope to their hopeless eyes.

Misc. Shots of India

Our eyes were filled with a ton of things we can’t even capture with a camera. However, here are a few to give you an idea of some things unique to India.

Hinduism

Hinduism is the official religion of India with 80% of the population professing Hinduism. We saw and visited several Hindu temples along the way.

A Day at the Market

We took a half day one day to visit the market of Chilakaluripet and shop around. The visit to the downtown market truly turned out to be the India we had imagined.

Slum Villages

Chilakaluripet, India is filled with slum villages. We visited many of the slums throughout the trip to see Veda services rendered as well as slum villages that still need help as the Lord provides more sponsors.

Preaching and Teaching

We had many chances to share the Word of God with the people of India. In fact, it was a lot more than we expected. But, God gave His grace, His Word was taught, and people came to know our Lord Jesus.
