My chronic onychophagia
Yahoo! I’ve finally broken my lifelong addiction of chronic onychophagia, otherwise known as chronic nail biting. I’ve made the joke for years that I came out of the womb biting my nails and never looked back since. Some (Wikipedia to be exact) may say that it has to do with an emotional or mental disorder. For the sake of self-esteem, let’s say not. I’m certainly a nervous fidget so I’d probably contribute my addicition on that basis alone.
So, what broke it? It turns out that this upcoming mission trip to India has not only motivated me to re-start this blog, but it’s helped break my addiction as well. My mind can think of all kinds of funkiness that we are about to encounter on this trip…little bacterial suckers that’ll lay me up for days on end if I’m not careful. I’ll stick on the side of caution and hold myself to having some nails and halfway decent cuticles while I’m at it.
However…there’s a catch. You might notice my pinky finger not included in that wonderful picture. Let’s just say it’s my fall-back at the moment. If I get overwhelmed with the urge…the poor pinky gets it.
India is so far a motivator of blog creation and addiction breaking. Hmm…wonder what’s next.

All the better to tie those small flies

Dude, note that you won’t find many folks biting their nails in India. ESPECIALLY the nails on their LEFT hand….
